City approves Albinson rock removal and piano purchases
The city Commission authorized Albinson Construction Co to remove roughly 90 yards of rock and dirt on Hancock Street at six dollars per yard, paying 592.20 and 185.57 for changing the town hall sign to city hall. They also approved a Waltham piano for the gymnasium and an Ivers & Pond for the theatre, while rejecting a grand piano and a weather-stripping bid. The city bus netted 230.02 in February. E P Manley was rehired as city engineer at 200 monthly. Mayor Rummel returned from Marquette after an upper peninsula officials’ meeting.

The $50,000 structure will rise in Wakefield, with Indian limestone exterior, Tennessee marble interior, three teller cages, offices, a ladies room and a vault by Diebold. Wakefield church drive raises record five-year pledge
Fifteen families in the Wakefield congregation of Union Church pledged 1800 for the next five years as part of a statewide effort to raise 2250000 for religious work at state educational institutions. The Wakefield drive, the highest in the Upper Peninsula, oversubscribed by about 1000. Rev. L C McDonald led the campaign locally. The campaign closed last Friday. The Woman's Club meets April 11 at the Memorial Community building to elect officers and conduct annual business.

Wakefield hospital project moves toward bids and site talks
City commissioners indicated plans for a Wakefield hospital are complete and ready for mining company bids. A site decision is pending with potential relocation of the Bedet building lot to clear room for a bank structure near Hancock Street. If companies delay, the city may build a municipally owned hospital this summer.

The Easter offering for children at state homes in Lancer and Cold Water will be shipped Wednesday.
