A. Kerkes starts remodeling the basement of the Ashland building to house Novak and Peznetti billiards pool room and also to serve as a taxi line office between nearby towns. An north entrance will replace the current southeast entry as work proceeds.
The first and third Mondays are social evenings for the Girls' Community club at the Municipal Memorial Building, with second and fourth Mondays for business meetings. Wakefield Women's Club banquet drew 170 attendees of 197 paid members, with Mrs W W Woodward as principal speaker and reports mixed with musical numbers. Local men attended Cyrus Council initiation in Bessemer, and Mrs William Reynolds's health improved after hospital treatment in Ashland. Bids requested for Gogebic County Park shelters and caretaker residence, due April 23 1928, with plan reviews available at the Road Commission office.
