Wakefield High School report cards to be mailed next Tuesday
Supt. A W Clevenger announced that report cards for the past school quarter will be mailed to parents of pupils at Wakefield High School and given to students in the lower grades for delivery noon Friday. Each card will include the teacher’s estimate, pupil improvement, and a statement on attitude toward school work. The day also featured the first debate of the year on supervised study with a close split vote and musical numbers by Miss Brand’s class. Nela Niemi of Ironwood, NY Life Insurance, attended locally, ranking 14th in volume for the company in their April report.

City Accepts Building From Albinson Company
The Memorial Community Building was accepted by the city from A A Albinson Construction Co after repairs are completed. One thousand dollars will be withheld until fixes to the swimming pool drainage and fire escape steel are finished by June 1, 1923. Over thirteen thousand dollars in bills were approved, including nearly four thousand for the opening, with prominent guests unable to attend due to travel delays and weather.

Annual school exhibit set for May 1 at Memorial Center
The district will hold an afternoon and evening school exhibit on Tuesday May 1 at the Memorial Community Building gym. Displays will cover all grades and the high school under department heads and principals. The Girls Folk Dance Club of Eighth grades in the High School will perform Dutch Swedish Spanish Japanese Scottish and Italian dances and a flag drill in the theatre, with special numbers by grade teachers and the high school orchestra. Michael McGinty won 200 in a case over damages from butcher Joseph Anderson for injuries to his Franklin car. The trial was before Justice Hrbacek with Waples of Tronwood representing McGinty and Alvin Rummel and Levi S. Rice for the plaintiff. Nels Walstrom has a painting and interior job bid at homes owned by Victor Lepisto Peter A. and Henry Running. Mrs Rudolph Cloon is visiting relatives on the Mesaba range.

Wakefield Iron to Ship 650000 Tons in 1923
Wakefield officials expect Wakefield Iron Company property to ship about 650000 tons of ore this season as inquiries for more than 500000 tons have already started. Last year output neared 450000 tons while the prior year the pit was idle. Stripping continues with near full crew. wage increases may follow United States Steel action.
