Georgia Supreme Court reverses Dooly Superior court ruling in the Cordele mayoralty fight between C. C. Cutts and Wm. Scandrett. The decision leaves Mayor Cutts in office for the remainder of his term.
Vienna reports its first bale of the year last Saturday weighing 803 pounds and classified midling. Mr H R Fenn brought in the bale which Mayer Watts Co purchased for 10 cents and stored at Bushee Smith Co warehouse.
Henry Man, an 18 year old white man, allegedly stole the horse and buggy of Mr. Chas Clewis near Snow two weeks ago. He was arrested in Yonkers last Saturday and jailed in Looly county. He was caught by Jim Somerford of Snow and received a $25 reward. Mann waived a commitment trial and will seek indictment from the next grand jury.
The Baptist church ladies held an ice cream festival in the Vacant store next to the drug store last Wednesday night. The event was highly enjoyable and raised about ten dollars.
The Chinese emperor must never turn a corner when driving. If he chooses to drive, streets are straightened, obstructing houses are removed, and even dried-up waterways are bridged, to avoid any detours.

The first bale of the new crop arrived in Cordele in front of the Suwanee hotel last Saturday morning. Buyer was Mr. F. K. Varnadoe who paid ten and one sixteenths cents for the bale.
The Vienna baseball nine defeated a school boys team 12 to 8 in the season opener played Thursday afternoon. Vienna led 3 to 0, then 8 to 2, and 12 to 8 as the scoreline showed.
The Georgia Normal and Industrial College announces its ninth annual session starts September 13 1899. Dooly county is urged to send a large delegation to the school where full yearly attendance costs 110 dollars covering board incidental fees books and stationery. A barn owned by prominent farmer J. J. Peavy in the eastern county portion burned last Saturday night with contents lost. Stock in the stables were saved after great effort. no cause is known and Peavy had no insurance.
