Married on Wednesday July 29 at eight o clock Mr John Bragg wed Miss Corilla Turlington of near Findlay Georgia. The ceremony was performed by Rev P G McDonald. The Progress joins in congratulating the popular couple.

Qualification for Voting Under 1896 Registration Law

The notice outlines that only citizens who registered in 1896 may vote in the fall elections. Voters must register in person with the tax collector, sign the oath, or mark, and cannot have others sign for them. Clerks may assist the tax collector. their actions are legally valid. Brass Band Festival Draws Crowd and Raised Funds

The Brass Band festival on Friday evening drew nearly all town residents and visitors to a well lit court house site after a brief rain scare. Tables lined the square with several young ladies selling refreshments. Mamie Leonard and Virgil Bixler won a prize for selling the most. About $28 above expenses was realized, and band members expressed thanks for support received.

Murder at Metcalf Church Ends in Tragedy

At Metcalf Georgia a Baptist church scene Sunday afternoon ended with J T Rushin shooting and killing Mir J F Lilly and slashing Lilly's throat. Rushin then drank laudanum to end his life but survived and was jailed in Thomansville. The motive cited as an old debt Lilly owed Rushin. Lilly was buried Monday afternoon.

A Straw Ride at Judge Woodward's Farm

Last Thursday evening a group of town youths visited Judge John H Woodward at his country home. They were hosted by the Judge and his family and Miss Victoria Wooten of Spring Hill. Refreshments were served at midnight. Also reported were the death of Miss Mollie Odom from typhoid fever and the death of eight year old Howard Lamar whose spirit went to heaven after long illness.

On July 24 the death angel took our dear teacher Bola from us after three years of service at our school. She led spring and started fall terms, taught one week and one day, then had to quit.
