Vidalians spent a safe and sane Christmas with few accidents. Sunday schools held exercises and Kiwanis Club aided gift baskets. A living tree near the depot was decorated with lights as children from schools gathered for carols and programs.
The Georgia and Florida schedule adjusts service effective December 26 with trains 43 44 14 and 15 between Tennille and Keysville ending. From January 1 trains 2 and 3 will operate Tennille to Augusta daily except Sunday. Trains 10 and 11 Pendleton to Millen end, while trains 8 and 9 Vida lia to Millen continue. Mr and Mrs J C Timmerman entertained at a turkey dinner Tuesday evening for Miss Hicks of Cedartown visiting Mrs T W Timmerman. Covers were laid for Miss Hicks, Carl McLemore, the Timmersmans and others.
Mrs. C R Bargeron left Thursday for her home in Asheville following a holiday visit with relatives here.
The W M S held its annual meeting and installation on the 18th at the Viadalia church. Officers named include Mrs W M Blitch president and Mrs J E French vice president with treasuries, secretaries, and division supts all listed for the coming year. A Junior Music Club was formed from the group.
C. S. Meadows & Son have rented the storeroom on Railroad Avenue just east of Strickland Motor Co and will move to their new location the first of the year.
Miss Irma Hicks and Mr Will Hicks of Cedartown visit their sister Mrs T W Timmerman, staying for a family gathering and reunion.
Misses Ora Rogers Claudia Stith in Swainsboro Monday. Mrs. Hart of Douglas visited here last week. Several residents and visitors from Swainsboro Barnesville Darien Savannah and Atlanta spent time with local families this holiday period. Efforts include citizens traveling home and hosting guests with multiple regional ties.
Rev. and Mrs. A. W. Reese and family depart Cordele after holidays as guests of Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Lee. Reese preached at the Methodist church Sunday night to an audience of many old friends. Miss Anna Brazell of Atlanta guests relatives in town.
Mrs. R. E. Shufflebarger entertained the Salmagundi Club Wednesday afternoon with Christmas greens bells and scarlet sage decor. Mrs. J. E. Mercer topped the game standings and guests were served fruit salad with cake after the gathering.
Miss Gussie Pearl Childs of Talbotton is the guest of Misses Cree and Eudine Meadows, sharing hospitality and social visit.
