Judge Hagan distributed a total of 3 025 for county pensioners and widows. The list includes named pensioners such as Amerson and Morris with 225 each, plus several others receiving 125 or 225. The distribution aligns with changes in pension law and targets those who qualify.
Pensioners on the old list are set to receive Christmas money. Hagan received a check for $940 early in the week to finish paying the $25 balance due to each pensioner on the old list.
Washington Dec. 19 President Harding announced a list of appointees from Georgia. Fred G. Brewton was named postmaster at Mt. Vernon. The announcement names Brewton among several Georgians chosen for federal posts.
County commissioners at the vaurt house handled a busy docket of road tax cases. Most defendants were in default and faced penalties of a $6 fine or ten days in jail, with arrests expected if fines are not paid. The next meeting is set for the second Monday in January.

The Toombs County Superior Court honors Judge Benjamin Tarbutton Rawlings with a memorial by the bar and court officers. A resolution praises his life, character, and service, noting his fair justice and steadfast ethics, and expresses sympathy to his family. An evening service at the Methodist church installed officers of the Woman's Missionary Society.
E A Cutts Imperial Potentate of the Shrine returns to Savannah after a nationwide tour to inspect temples and promote rescue of crippled children. He notes the order spends about 1 million dollars yearly on a children’s hospital project with single story facilities and aims to build hospitals across North America. He says funds come from each member contributing about 2 dollars annually and discusses a planned Southern highway linking San Diego to Savannah.
At the Kiwanis meeting D. C. Pattillo was named president for the coming year succeeding W. J. DeLoach. W. J. Jackson was re elected vice president and T. W. Willetts treasurer. A board of directors including W. J. Murchison L. M. McLemore J. L. Strickland I. D. Stewart Joe Hackel O. D. Warthen and Chess Abernathy was chosen. Santa Claus visit and Christmas fund updates followed with over 125 contributed for baskets and toys.
Mr Cutts highlights the Columbia Highway as the more usable route for autos. The Southern route is about 300 miles closer than the Northern highway and remains open year round. It provides year round access and winter tourism when the Northern road is blocked by snow.
