History of Doan’s early trail life and frontier days
Doan, of Doan’s trading post at Fort Sill, recalls 1870s and 1880s life along the Chisholm and Dodge City trails. He details evacuations from Kiowa and Comanche threats, cattle drives past his store, clashes with natives, and the opening of frontier commerce near Deans and Weatherford. He names neighbors, traders, and events shaping early Kansas territory life.
