Power Pooling Links Utah with Wider Electric Grid
Utah Power and Light explains how interconnecting power systems uses high voltage lines to balance demand, reduce costs, and ensure reliability. The history shows UP&L evolved from merging 330 small companies to joining Idaho Power, Montana Power, and forming parts of the Northwest Power Pool with 14 million kilowatts. Future plans connect to Southwest and Rocky Mountain Pools, enabling cross region power transfers from Utah and Idaho to the Northwest, California, and beyond.
Power pools link Utah Arizona to wider grid
The last two legs of the 230000 volt arrow connect UP&L with Arizona Public Service and extend to Kemmerer Wyoming to join the Rocky Mountain Pool and Colorado Public Service Co. through Pacific Power and Light. Interconnections now cross the nation and parts of Canada, enabling shared generating capacity across distant loads. Seven power pools operate informally, interlinked and growing without federal interference.

About 1300 members of the Utah School Employees Association will hold their convention September 27 and 28 at Granite Park Junior High School Salt Lake City. The program features leadership talks, self improvement, exhibits, departmental meetings, and two general sessions with speakers LaMar Buckner and Dr William E Berrett. Music by East High violin sextet and Ogden High School A Capella Quartet.

Bird Seasons Open Across State With Varying Durations
Utan bird hunters began weekend chukar Hungarian partridge and grouse seasons. Chukar and partridge run 62 days to November 15 statewide. Grouse season starts two days to September 16 with a five day extension through September 21 in northern forests. Most bag limits and rules remain as in prior years, but hunters urged to check proclamations for changes.
