Painting Hints for Brush Care and Cleaning
Amateurs waste paint brushes by neglecting cleaning despite good intentions. Proper brush care extends life, with immediate removal of as much paint as possible onto a board or cloth followed by thorough soaking in appropriate solvent. Oil and enamel brushes use white gasoline or turpentine, shellac brushes use denatured alcohol, water-based brushes use water.
Brush Cleaning Techniques and Local Social Notes
Instructions on cleaning brushes emphasize warm water rinses and scrubbing with a wire brush while warning against soaking in water oil or gasoline. The text shifts to local family updates including Glade Ward, Lagoon resort outings with Uintah High School band, visits by Loreen Johnson and Miss Donna Perry, and a Hardy family reunion. A MIA fall social is planned with a program and dancing at the chapel on September 13.
