Kidnap Suspect Still at Large After Jail Escape
Otis Woodring, 24, Snyder Oklahoma, fled Uintah county jail while awaiting Fourth District Court hearing on second degree kidnapping and armed robbery charges. Police tie him to a service station robbery at 4 am Monday, stealing 32 dollars. A separate Uintah Implement Co. break in yielded 5 dollars and a stolen pickup. Woodring remains at large as authorities pursue leads. His wife Velma Woodring remains in custody as a material witness.

Phillip Young, 21, of Layton, was thrown from a motorcycle six miles southwest of Lapoint after a hole in the road. he was treated at Uintah County Hospital. Vernal police chief Arthur Corless reported no accidents in Vernal.
