Ground breaking ceremonies for Union High School are urged with attendance from Russell Todd board president Ralph Childs and contractor representatives. The Union board secretary Harold M. Lindell notes bids totaling 613080 for the construction contract. Electrical work goes to Electric Service Co of Price for 15030 and plumbing to Stevenson Plumbing Co of Mt Emmons for 82950. The project covers a 59 acre site east of Roosevelt on US highway 0. Expected cost exceeds 600900 with additional funding planned for equipment. Students from surrounding districts will attend upon completion.

Vernal Chamber Names Frank Ward Executive Secretary

Salt Lake City executive Frank Ward was named executive secretary of the Vernal Chamber of Commerce after a Monday board meeting at United State Bank. Ward, chosen from 27 statewide applicants, will arrive in Vernal Wednesday to assume duties. selection chairman J. D. Jones and committee members B. H. Stringham and Lawrence Siddoway announced. Ward is married with no children.

Engineers from the Board of Fire Underwriters surveyed Vernal to assess fire insurance rates and water pressure aided by meters. Vernal Guard Unit Activated in Vernal After 1940

Co. A of the 1334th Combat Engineers Battalion was activated Monday evening at Imperial Hall Vernal marking the first Utah National Guard activity there since 1940. Lt. Nielsen commands with 2nd Lt. Acel Hall as executive officer and 20 plus listed members. Officials note federal recognition, a $1000 remodeling of Imperial Hall, and plans to start a large armory with garages this fall on city land.

County 4-H Fair Proves To Be Outstanding Success

The Roosevelt stake house will host a Primary convention on Sept 10 for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
