Notice to Veterans on adjusted service certificates
Veterans who have not filed applications for settlement of adjusted service certificates under public act 499 should consult the Veterans Administration in Salt Lake City or their ex-serviceman representative. By filing bonus settlement applications those veterans who have borrowed on their certificates will stop the running of interest as of September 30, 1931. If a veteran dies settlement goes to relatives, not previously designated beneficiaries. Interest at 3 1 2 percent per year will be paid in settlement. Veterans with loans against certificates will be charged interest to date of repayment or to date of June 10, 1931, whichever comes first. If not filing, the VA plans to certify all applications to the Treasury for payment before June 10. Fingerprinting facilities are available at Union headquarters. Veterans intending to file are cautioned that further delay may not assure release of this band on June 13.
