St James Catholic Church Dedication Set for May 24
St James Catholic Church in Vernal will be dedicated on Wednesday May 24 in a ceremony led by Most Rev Duane G Hunt bishop of Salt Lake City Diocese. The new church sits at First North and First West with the rectory built in 1947 and substantial construction completed that year. Parish history notes involvement by multiple bishops priests and orders as the Vernal mission grew from 1922 onward with the Paulist Fathers and later St Helen’s Roosevelt in 1943. The plan includes a 70 by 34 foot church with complete basement and social hall and an 11 am holy mass followed by dinner and a 3 pm dedication program and Benediction with a drawing for gifts in the evening.
