Oaks East Park Pick Best For 1946 Fishing Preview
Henry Slaugh, Utah state game supervisor from Vernal, predicts Oaks Park and East Park will offer top fishing in 1946 due to heavy spring plantings in Uintah county streams. Plantings include 195000 German brown trout and 20000 Eastern Brook fry, with Ashley Brush and Cort creeks highlighted as strong streams. Openings remain June 15 for Ashley Creek and July 1 for higher lakes, with White Rocks hatchery expanding capacity to support ongoing stocking.

Director Jess Leonard cites stricter rules elsewhere and urges sportsmanlike compliance with the curtailed creel.
Dempsey Predicts Louis Will Stop Conn Quicker Than Before
Former heavyweight champion Jim Dempsey, writing in Cosmopolitan, predicts Joe Louis will KO Billy Conn sooner than in their 1939 rematch. He argues Louis’ speed may have slipped little, but remains formidable, and notes Conn’s swift, clever boxing could pose trouble. Louis has repeatedly shown eagerness to meet Conn again, and Dempsey expects a swift finish at Yankee Stadium.
