Universal Military Training Spearheaded by American Legion Speaker
Lloyd Wignall, department adjutant of the American Legion, outlined a universal military training plan at the Legion Hall. He cited moral and military reasons, noting many eligible men are not liable for service since 1945, and argued for annual cost savings through a trained reserve. The proposal calls for age 18 registration, monthly induction, and seven years in reserves after basic training.
