Will Resignation Accepted by Upper Colorado Group

John Geoffrey Will’s resignation as executive secretary of the Upper Colorado River Commission was accepted at its annual Grand Junction meeting. Tval Goslin was named acting secretary. Will’s departure becomes effective March 31, amid long-standing push by Utah, Wyoming and Western Colorado groups, following disputes over Blue River diversion and other projects.

Vernal Ministers Prepare Good Friday Service

The Vernal Ministerial Association sponsors a Good Friday service at St. Pauls Episcopal Church on April 8 at 1 PM. Participants include Reverends Chopper Aiken Gordon Landry with Gordon delivering the sermon from Kingsbury Congregational Church. The hour from 1 to 2 PM will feature prayer and devotions marking the crucifixion.

Bus Driver Must Stand Trial for Oil Worker Death

Frank J Terry a 33 year old bus driver bound over to district court on voluntary manslaughter charges in the February 20 two death crash east of Jensen. The incident killed oil worker Russell Burl Grimes Jr and Vernal resident Floyd Annin 8. Also killed was the passenger Malcome E Dever 80 Vernal with three injured. State witnesses included Sterling Rasmussen 45 Vernal car owner driver Baird A Golf 39 Duchesne passenger James C Myers 30 Artesia tank truck driver and Sgt Sammy Hatch of the Utah State Highway Patrol. The bus northbound toward Vernal collided with the oil workers car near the accident scene. Other local items note a baby girl born March 23 to Mr and Mrs Mac Workman and visits between residents of Craig and Richmond Washington.

Uintah Ends Run With Two Tough Losses At State Tourney

Uintah lost to Cyprus 41 50 on Thursday and Marysvale 50 56 on Friday after an 63 41 win over North Summit in Provo. County Road Program Outlined For Summer by County Commissioners

Uintah County officials outlined a summer road program totaling about forty four miles of paving and base improvements. The plan includes multiple asphalting projects across Gilnes Dry Fork Ashley Naples Davis Avalon Ballard Lapoint Tridell Jensen and Taylor Mountain with sections described near McKenathnie Corner Ashley Creeksbridge Muddy Lane and highway 40 to U S 40.
