Spirituality in the Home Emphasis at United Stake Conference

The United Stake conference at Vernal stressed home spirituality with sessions in the tabernacle over the weekend. Stake President Frank R Walker opened the Sunday morning talk, with a string ensemble, congregational songs, and a drama on the stake theme Doctrine and Covenants See 0O-110-124. The program included music by the Goodriches and Sowards, a performance by Arva Bowden, and remarks on eternal marriage.

Funeral services for Mrs Mary A F Eaton

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1:00 pm in the First Ward chapel for Mrs Mary Adeline Fuller Eaton, 75, who died Sunday, March 2 at 12:45 am at her home after a lingering illness. The service was conducted by Bishop Martin Curtis of Vernal Fifth Ward. A Vernal Mortuary player was offered by President William B. Wallis. Mrs Ruth Walker played the prelude. Continued on page 8.

Citizens Curriculum Study Meeting Scheduled Monday at High School

The Citizens Curriculum Study committee schedules a Monday 7 30 pm meeting at Uintah High School. Each member will pick one of two areas to focus on future meetings. Area one covers the student program including subjects all students should take. Area two covers pupil personnel concerns with counseling on vocational, educational, and social guidance.

Uintah Wrestlers Win State Class UD Championship

Uintah Utes wrestled to the State Class UD Championship at Wasatch High School. Captain Billy Murray captured his third state title at 154 pounds, with Lyle Southern at 183 and Ronnie Lewis at 175 earning their first state championships. The county Republican mass meeting will be held Monday in the courtroom of the county building at Bim, announced Ralph Preece, county chairman, early this week. About 50 people joined the Vernal Chamber of Commerce agriculture tour and luncheon at the Hotel Vernal. State Senator B H Stringham and Rep. Clair Re Mopkins spoke as Dinosaur National Monument project costs were outlined, including $5,533,000 under Mission 86 and multiple road and building funds for Uintah County projects. Public hearings on monument development and livestock water concerns were announced, while Max Abbott discussed costs to convert Russel Todd elementary to a junior high and plans with Indian communities for a west side junior high.
