Forests Near Fire Hazard Warned by Officials
Forest Supervisor William D. Hurst warns of rising fire danger as forests and ranges dry despite recent mountain storms. He urges care with fire, to fully extinguish campfires, avoid throwing burning materials, and report larger fires to rangers or local authorities. The Bureau of Land Management also cautions on dry federal range lands and the approaching fire season. Acting Chief Forest Fire Warden Arthur D. Smith issued a proclamation in this context.

Small Cities Gain From Decentralization Over Megacities
A writer argues smaller cities offer safety and growth amid fears of war and inflation. He cites uranium, H bombs, and blackmail threats increasing national costs, while decentralization of industry boosts investment in smaller communities and rails against urban vulnerabilities. He lauds better roads and worker stability in smaller towns.
