Funeral services for David Ellis 58 of 55 Sutet West Now time resident of Vernal will be held Saturday at Loom in Ver nal Second Ward chapel under Bishop Frank Walker. Ellis found dead Tuesday at 7 pm in living room by Mrs Lindsay Oaks. Born Vernal Aug 12 1888 son of Ellis Jones Ellis and Catherine Howard Ellis. Surviving daughter Lois Barfield Odessa Texas and two grandchildren. Two brothers Howard Ellis Linwood Calif and Evan Ellis St Augustine Fla. Burial in Rock Point Cemetery Maeser. Vernal city crews completed a new 10 inch waterline across Main Street from 4 North to 2nd South along Vernal Avenue boosting water volume and pressure. Downtown workers reported the power shovel clanging on hard pan during excavation. Additional projects include street paving curb and gutters and other sewer and water lines.

Funeral Held at Naples for Lewis Gardiner
Lewis Stephen Gardiner, longtime valley churchman and community worker, died after an operation in Salt Lake City. Loran L Laughlin of Goodman Kansas was awarded Vernal Utah natural gas franchise by the Public Service Commission on Monday. Laughlin beat Greeley Gas Co in bids and plans to operate as a single utility across Vernal Moab and Monticello. The ordinance makes the grant non exclusive and sets a 2 percent gross revenue payment and an eight percent discount for churches starting after four years. Still Hopeful Echo Park Dam Deletion Plans for Uintah Council
Uintah County coordinating council directors approved by laws for the new body to unite local groups. The first general meeting is set for Aug. 15 at 8 a.m. with representatives from religious and civic organizations. The council aims to tackle beautification child welfare and delinquency issues across Uintah County. The House subcommittee passed a revised, cheaper version and a full committee hearing is slated for June 21. A message from Rep. Aldous Dixon cited California reclamation gains and current opposition. U.S. 4 Association leader Henry Millecam urged clearer signage at Silver Creek turnoff near Kimball’s Junction and reported $1,200 secured to support an information booth at the new junction.
