Optimism for Echo Park Project Voiced by Vernal Leaders

Vernal Chamber leaders urged optimism for the Echo Park water project during a Wednesday noon lunch session. L Y Siddoway and Hugh W Colton said opponents were hindering progress but expected a House floor victory. They noted active Washington support and anticipated committee marking and a House vote by late June or early July.

Pipeline Ditching Set to Start Before June 20

Surveyors report clearing and ditching of the Pacific Northwest natent xis pipeline 14 to begin around June 20. Spread 5 runs 18 miles south of Green River crossing the Green River three times, with 30 rail cars of heavy equipment planned for the pipe-laying project by Associated Pipeline Contractors, Inc.

Master’s Degree Awarded in Iowa To Dale Haws

Dale Haws of Vernal received a Master’s degree in Entomology from Iowa State College, Ames. He is a Uintah High School graduate with a bachelor’s from Utah State Agricultural College in Logan, served in the U S Army in Germany, and fulfilled a mission to the North Central States.

Echo Park dam aid in Upper Colorado project still hoped for

Priest Addresses Utah American Legion Banquet

Ivy Baker Priest told 400 Legionnaires and Auxiliary members at the Utah state banquet in Vernal that faith and freedom, not gold, sustain the nation. She urged a sound dollar, education, and responsibility, joking about images on currency and advertising space on bills. Robert L. Lone Ranger Urges Youth to be Patriotic in Vernal

Ex-conknife suspect snared after Uintah Duchesne dragnet

Police across Uintah and Duchesne counties and nearby agencies rounded up an ex convict and a second hitchhiker linked to a knife attack after a statewide dragnet. The operation followed a violent incident on Highway 40 near the Utah Colorado line, with suspects identified as Ernest Poole of Illinois and Edwin Crook of Arizona.
