Artesia Oil Survey Aims to Expand Field Prospecting
Artesia progresses with field geologic study using a system of elimination to identify test well sites in Moffat County Colorado and adjacent areas. The aim is to classify favorable petroleum zones in marine and brackish strata and interbedded sandstones and shales from Cambrian to Tertiary times, guiding further drilling near Rangely and Cathedral Bluffs through the summer. Areas bounded by township 3 north range 104 west are singled out for detailed testing.

Cub Scouts and den mothers enjoyed a sunrise breakfast Saturday. Rev John L Smith of Corons New Mexico spoke at both morning and evening sessions at the First Baptist Church. Glen Norton met his wife Wilma and her sister in Denver last Saturday. they returned to Artesia the same day. Mrs Norton has visited relatives in Kansas recently. Bible Learners met at the Parsonage for their May 25 class. Mrs Guy Castlidge was elected vice president Eva Whitener led devotion Peggy Garrison and Stella McDaniel supervised games. Refreshments were provided by Mrs Ola Castlidge and Mrs Lucille Cowell. The June meeting will be at the Monhallon residence.
