Park Opening in Vernal Celebrated With Dedication Event
Plans for the dedication of Jaycee Park as a recreation center were announced by Kenneth Sowards of the Vernal Junior Chamber of Commerce. The ceremony at 8 p.m. will feature a softball match between the Rangely Whisps and a Vernal team, followed by prize penny-guessing and awards. Co chairs Ralph Ashton Hugh Caldwell with Milton Novack and Harold Odekirk as committee members. Steven Stringham leads the committee. The park west of town features new 500 seat bleachers and night lighting, with about 3400 spent on improvements plus 600 for completion. The land was donated to Uintah School District for recreation. the park will host programs with eight instructors and aim to serve about 500 youths this season. Awards announced in person at dedication on July 5. There is no admission charge.

Ruby Lea Hazelbush of Vernal daughter of Mr and Mrs W Hazelbush received the highest scholastic and service awards from Wasatch Academy Mt Pleasant Monday evening. Dorothy Stone of Ft Duchesne also received the same honor. Honorable mention went to Lowe Ashton of Heber son of Lowe Ashton Sr. The program theme was Moral Force with a processionals coronation march invocations piano solo and multiple addresses and vocal selections by noted students.

Uintah High School 25th Commencement Holds 90 Graduates
A capacity crowd attended Uintah High School for the 25th annual commencement with the theme One World. Diploma presentations were made by Ralph Siddoway and A Rigby to 90 graduates in caps and gowns as Dorpe Johnson gave introductory remarks and a student choir performed.

Altierra Graduation Tuesday for Class of 32
Five men from the U S Reclamation Bureau and the Geological Survey found four new dam sites on the Green River during a 40 mile downstream trip. The lowest site is the best in the Red Canyon area. Alterra High School held commencement for 32 graduates with valedictorian Wilma Gilstrap and salutatorian Ona Bartlett leading the class.
