William Heber Winn 51, longtime Ashley rancher, died Monday June 7 at a Diamond Mountain cattle camp from coronary thrombosis. Born Feb 26 1897 in Vernal he married Edith Hodgkins in 1931 and served in WWI. Survived by widow two sons Harold and Raymond a daughter Dorothy a stepdaughter Helen Caldall and many Winn siblings. Funeral Friday 1 p.m. at Ashley LDS ward with Roy Richins officiating. Burial at ernal cemetery. Swann Funeral Home arranging.

Walter Morton McCoy aged 80 a Vernal Basin business leader and public servant died Sunday June 6 at his Maeser home. He aided in sheep raising led in the National Wool Growers Assn helped found Uintah State Bank and served as deputy sheriff and city marshal. Survived by son Clifton W McCoy four daughters and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the family home with Elks lodge conduct and burial in Maeser cemetery under Swain Funeral home.

Stake Houses Construction Moves Ahead on Schedule
Footings and foundation work are underway at the Uintah stake house and Third Ward Chapel in Glen Oaks. Foreman reports 1426 man hours in the first two weeks, gravel hauled, lumber planed, and work approved by the architect. Mr and Mrs Larry Speers of Salt Lake City welcomed a baby girl. Dry Fork Road Link To Scenic Uintas Gets Go Ahead
Uintah county commissioners announced that the final five miles of the 13 mile Dry Fork can yon road, linking Ashley National Forest with Vernal, will go ahead as soon as equipment is ready. The project will cost about 15000 dollars excluding a bridge, with work focused on rights of way, culverts, and grading to support logging and scenic travel to open access for Uintah Basin residents. The Red Cloud timber access road project in Work Canyon is nearing completion amid snow conditions, with a new culvert installed at Brownles Canyon and a bridge across Ashley Creek to be started after high water.
