Utah Officials Discuss Colorado River Drought Plans
Grover A. Giles attends for Utah as compacts permit progress on reservoir and power projects to benefit all basin regions. Utah irrigation could rise to 1,722,000 acres. upper basin states now use only about one fourth of their potential Colorado River allocation. Reservoirs planned on the Colorado, Green, and San Juan include Flaming Gorge and Glen Canyon sites to equalize flow during wet and dry years. Upper basin obligation under the 1922 pact requires 7,500,000 acre feet at Lee's Ferry with over 1,000,000 acre feet more guaranteed at the border with Mexico.
