New Fur Bearer Released in Utah Marshes
The nutria a South American fur bearer has been introduced to Utah marshes by the Utah Fish and Game department. It resembles both muskrat and beaver and needs water to live. Released at the mouth of the Jordan River in Salt Lake County. Pelts command higher prices than muskrat. Studies aim to confirm nutria as a beneficial addition to Utah marsh life.
