Colorado to Bid for Oil Neld Traffic

Colorado plans to shift wholesale and retail trade from Vernal to within the state, focusing on Grand Junction. The Highway Department studies improvements from Rangely to Loma via Highway 139, a cutoff from Highway 40 to the Rangely field, and a link near Artesia and Highway 64. Weed Eradication Tour Slated For Tuesday Uintah County

Uintah County weed eradication drive tour next Tuesday in Ashley Valley will be shown to Vernal farmers and homeowners. 182 acres sprayed with 24D and 240 portions to reveal spraying effects while 400 acres remain to be treated. County agent William T Whitaker notes strong summer campaign response and active use of hand and power sprayers. Story Festival Slated Monday By Uintah Stake

The annual Story Festival sponsored by Uintah Stake MIA, directed by activity counselors, is set for Monday evening July 22 at 030 pm on Uintah High School lawn. West county superintendent H Grant West says the teacher shortage in Uintah County may be worse than wartime, with rural areas hardest hit. Pre Rodeo Plans Slated for Vernal Rodeo Queens

Candidates for Vernal Rodeo queen face a busy pre rodeo week arranged by Alvin Jay. They visit Greens Lake Sunday as guests of Dr Eskelson for fishing boating and a trout dinner and will ride in the Days of 47 Salt Lake City parade Tuesday. The Pioneer Days parade in Opden Wednesday leads to Friday's Imperial Hall dance where one candidate will be crowned Queen of the rodeo and others named Miss Vernal Uintah and Utah.
