Meat Production Seen Falling 19 Percent This Year
Meat production this year is forecast at about 21 billion pounds, down 19 percent from last year and the lowest output since 1941. The drop will vary by type with beef hardest hit and veal least affected. The most pronounced decline will occur in the last quarter as the 1948 spring pig crop reduces hog marketings.
