George Louis Vincent 42 former Vernal resident died Saturday afternoon of a heart attack at his Ogden home. Born Sept 24 1906 in Vernal son of Louis and Edith Vincent he lived in Vernal school then moved to Ogden eight years ago. A construction engineer he belonged to the International Union of Operating Engineers local No 3. He married Mae Warren Shupe in Ogden Sept 12 1944. Survivors include his widow two sons Louis and Verlin from a prior marriage in Jensen a sister Mrs M H Clinton Springfield Ore five aunts Mrs Beatrice Schofield Mrs Rollin Twitchell and Mrs Lillian Snow Vernal Mrs Ellen Dean Gusher and Mrs Bertha Witmer Reno Nev. Funeral held Wednesday at 2 p m in Ogden at Larkin and Sons chapel with Bishop David B Foulger presiding.

Burial was at Ogden city cemetery with Vernal attendees including Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Snow and daughter Anna Fae, Mrs. Ellen Dean, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Myers, Louis and Verlin Vincent.

Accordionist LaVaux to Perform at Uintah High Dec 16
Accordionist Lloyd LaVaux, famed as "the poet of the accordion," will appear at Uintah High School on December 16 at 8 15 p m for the second Lyceum program of the year. The artist, part of the duo The Two LaVaux with his father, has toured North America and the West Indies and served in World War II earning the Silver Star in Normandy. He previously performed at Uintah High School last year to great student reception.

Noted Lecturer Tells of Atomic Future
Dr. Gerald Wendt, editor of Science Illustrated, spoke to Uintah Knife and Fork club members about the atomic era. He forecast U S leadership in research funding, predicted an atomic engine by 1949, and argued atomic energy will revolutionize industry and submarine power while comparing costs to coal. Carter Oil Co plans to retest the Ruth Nelson No 1 well in Uintah Basin between 7060 and 7080 feet using a whipstock to reenter the Wasatch formation. After drilling to 7880 feet without producing oil in paying quantities, the company has spent about 1 million dollars on Uintah drilling, including 400000 on this well.

Ski Tow to be Installed On Mountain by Christmas
Uintah county prepares a new snow sports area in Dry Fork canyon with a ski tow ordered and to be ready by Christmas. Claudius A Banks, chair of the Uintah Snow Sports committee, says the site near Dry Fork is covered and expects good snow for the season. Memberships are being sold by secretary Frank Couture, with a strong drive expected once the tow operates and members gain preferential rates. Plans include free ski films to be shown next Tuesday night.

Defective Flue Triggers House Fire at Cliff Atwood Home
Fire chief reported a defective flue in Cliff Atwood's residence at 331 E 1st North caused a morning blaze that gutted part of the attic and damaged walls while leaving the family able to stay after some immediate repairs. Earlier, a fire at Lloyd's Motor Sales on North Vernal Ave. damaged wires and a radiator in a car.

A Texas oil firm reported progress on the Ashley structure. Workers were setting casing and cementing, with a hoped for test by Saturday. Coring had passed 400 feet, but no well announced yet.
