A Vernal man was fined 299 dollars on a drunken driving charge after a two car crash two miles east of Vernal on US 40. Another accident left Archie Richardson and Albert Dixon injured. Goodrich received 208 dollars and 90 day sentence suspended. A third wreck near Duchesne sent J Ronald Preece to hospital with back and leg injuries. Five of six occupants escaped major harm.

A 16 man oil exploration crew with nine trucks arrived Monday in Vernal to work for California Company in Ashley Valley. The seismograph team from National Geophysical Inc had been in Vernal two years ago and is linked to Standard Oil’s California subsidiary.
