Wheat as Livestock Feed Boosts Utah Farm Value
Professor Harry A Smith of Utah State College notes wheat’s higher digestible nutrients than corn and its fattening value for cattle hogs and sheep. He urges marketing via livestock routes, grinding needs, and estimates 100 pounds of pork require 360 pounds wheat plus alfalfa and tankage, with farm feeding sometimes more profitable than market sale.
