A crew began tearing down the Commercial Hotel annex to make way for twenty deluxe tourist cabins west and north of the hotel. The project runs through winter with aim for spring completion and growth of Vernal as a tourist center.

The biography traces Cassidy’s life from seven years old learning to set type to his wild river and desert explorations and gunfighter era.
J Walker sustained a crushed left leg and broken collar bone after a bag of gilsonite, estimated to have fallen about 200 feet, struck him at the Bonanza mine where he had worked for years. Miners hoisting material loosened the bag as it neared surface. Harden Nelson and James Anderson Jr assisted. Walker was taken to Valley Capital by ambulance and remains in potential danger, though stable, with shock and multiple fractures.

Utah Power and Light will add a new gas engine unit of 123 KW at the Vernal Avenue and Fifth North site to boost Chin station capacity to 309 KW. Ashley Creek hydro plant adds 50 KW, totaling 5560 KW. Completion is expected by Dee Sth and will serve peak demand through the Christmas season per J Ander son.
