Land Management Bureau Notes Fire Dangers
Protection of public meat, wool, big game and water sheds relies on forage from public lands. Six thousand stockmen in Colorado and Utah depend on this forage for livelihood. Region 4 BLM in Salt Lake City oversees 34 million acres across 19 grazing districts in Utah and Colorado and guards range lands from fire. So far this season, BLM vigilance and public cooperation have prevented serious fires, though forest service fires threaten high mountain timber lands and could impact BLM ranges.
