Moffat Road Sold to Reorganized Company

The Moffat Road was sold August 17 at Craig to a reorganized buyer led by Gerald Hughes Alexander Berger and Lawrence Phipps Jr for 3 780 000. The sale transfers control from receivers Charles Boettcher and W R Freeman to Denver and Salt Lake Railway leadership with Freeman as president, and includes the 245 mile Denver to Craig main line. The deal reduces old debt via new capital and bonds, clears most liabilities, and links to the planned Moffat tunnel through the Continental Divide to shorten a transcontinental route.
