Indians Seek Oil Rights to Rangely Field
Utah and Colorado senators introduce a bill to return about 4.4 million acres of oil and mineral subsurface rights to the Ute Indians. The court of claims handles surface rights with a monetary settlement undecided. The bill would let Indians vote to accept rights or a monetary award while leases stay in effect and royalties go to the tribe.
