Waterfowl harvest in Utah hits seven year low in 1961
Department of Fish and Game reports 1961 duck harvest across Utah fell to 116,536 ducks and geese, the smallest in seven years. Hunters numbered 18,714, down from 23,243, with an average of 1.78 ducks or geese per outing. Snow geese fell 65 percent, Canada geese stable, while poor targets and low water tables limited activity. Outlook for next nesting season remains cautiously hopeful due to good snow pack in drainages.
