Steinaker Reservoir Emerges as Top Opening fishing Spot
Utah officials forecast Steinaker Reservoir to become a premier opening season fishing site after a 25,000 fingerling plant last September produced excellent growth. A 16 rainbow trout net catch near the reservoir showedhealthy pink flesh and weights near one third of a pound on average, with larger fish reaching 12 inches. The fishery team, including Bob Jensen and Glenn Davis, noted the reservoir's depth and nutrient-rich waters boost early growth, though future stockings may shift to bass if heat limits trout.
