Delegations Discuss Urgent Bridge Need
City Manager Duell Bennett announced the old dump will close soon and a new city county facility two miles east will open. The site will serve residents, feature a car bodies area, be jointly policed, with improved roads and burial of garbage to beautify the area. Delegations urged bridge repairs in the Basin, especially the Ouray bridge, amid lack of cooperation from the US Indian Dept. Senator Moss and Representative Peterson were contacted to push repairs. Dinosaur Land Promotes Tourists in Denver Area
Dinosaur Land advertising drive expands into the Denver area this year led by Vernal promotional group head Don Mulecam and secretary-treasurer John C. Beastin. Last week increases in tourist traffic followed heavy ads in Salt Lake City Wasatch Front. A 10x40 foot outdoor billboard will run three years at 50 dollars monthly and four 24 foot posters in downtown Denver for June costing 380 dollars total. A half page ad will appear in the scenic Salt Lake Tribune on May 20.

Telephone Dials Being Installed Aug 18 in Vernal Area
A Mountain States Telephone crew installs dials and issues new numbers in Vernal for a new all dial system. Seven numbers will be used. about 4 000 telephones in the exchange area. The direct distance dialing system starts one minute after midnight Saturday August 18. April 23 begins work with businesses using yellow pages. A 100‑ft microwave tower west of Vernal links to Salt Lake City, carrying Utah Highway Patrol and local services. The system includes 36 channels for long‑distance calls and a coaxial cable to the Vernal office.

The Cart Creek steel arch bridge to span Cart Creek canyon will complete August 1, linking a highway to Planing Gorge dam. Equipment began arriving March 8, with initial work from the Vernal side and later across the gorge. American Bridge Division leads as prime contractor under supervisor Buck Wotring. ten workers now, forty planned by late April.

A complaint charging Leon Carmickle age 18 of Vernal with grand larceny was signed Wednesday after an incident at Adams Cash Store in Maeser. Deputy Schoenberger investigated. Denzel Adams reported a money box containing 936 dollars and 15 cents disappeared from the store.

Road rise above canyon as Green River backs into Cart

New Enlarged Bowling Center Completion Set
Work on the new enlarged bowling center progresses rapidly and should be in operation by July 1. Roof is halfway done, walls up, steel beams in place. The larger building will house 1 lanes though only 14 will be installed for now. Original center had 12 lanes. Francis Felich of Vernal is the contractor. Roll gutter will be constructed west of the building with parking at the rear. Automatic equipment to be installed around June. snack bar and outward room with two sections noted.
