Vernal City Faces High Cost of 1948 Garbage Pickup
City manager Le Roy Taylor reported in the annual council review that 1948 garbage collection cost $1 per capita, with $4 380 for housing and two trucks during a 10 day spring cleanup. Weekly pickups reached 800, hauling 5880 yards at 0.745 per yard, while residents failed to share responsibility and used improper containers. For 1949 the aim is broader business involvement and better public understanding.

Navajo School Plan For Brigham City Hospital
President Truman signs bill transferring Brigham City Bushnell General Hospital to the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
