Steer Feeding Trial Under Way At Purdue LaPorte
Purdue Universitys winter cattle feeding experiment continues at the Agricultural Experiment Station with 70 head of two year old steers. Trials compare mixed corn and soybean silage to corn silage with and without cottonseed meal and test economical corn quantities. Shorthorn cattle of about 850 pounds are fed five months for results to be shared at the Indiana Cattle Feeders Association spring meeting.

Many Short Courses At Purdue This Winter
Purdue University offers a free two week poultry course nearly over and three tractor courses of two weeks each. A creamery field men course runs Jan 24 to 29, a fruit growers course Feb 7 to 11, and a canners course Feb 21 to 25. Three Iowa livestock herd men plan to enroll in the eight week course in animal husbandry. Courses are free except for laboratory fees for Indiana residents.
