Christmas Entertainment At Central Church School

The Central Church of Christ Sunday School presents a Christmas program at the opera house this evening starting at 7. The event features an audience opening song prayers, an orchestra, and multiple musical numbers and readings by Primary, Junior, and Intermediate departments plus solos duets and recitations by Lois and John Martin Estiene Henderson Johnnie Butler Merlin Eubanks Alta Strange Merle Butler and Thehna Nelson among others. Santa Claus visits Uncle Sam and a final closing song and benediction cap the program.

Methodist Sunday School Christmas Entertainment at One Church

The Methodist Sunday School will present a Christmas program at 1 church on Friday evening December 24. The event features music by Conwell's Orchestra, recitations by Evelyn Shinholt Martha Paxton Bernice Doyle and others, songs including Bethlehem Babe and Christmas Queen and Santa Claus, and a cantata with ten to sixteen children. All are invited to attend.

Fire destroys barn and oats near town

The barn of Robert Jones about four miles east of town burned Monday afternoon. Jones and others tried to save fodder and oats, with about 509 bushels in the shed, some saved by dragging from the flames. Origin unknown as Jones did not smoke or use matches. insurance and total damage not disclosed.

Premium checks to be collected by January 15 1921

Cranberry Corners Pleases Large Crowd At War Buren High

Junior Class of War Buren high school presented Cranberry Corners a four act comedy drama at the opera house to a large audience despite bad weather. Cast earned praise and the school received credit. A reprise will be staged next week with date to be announced.

Riley couple to spend two months in Tacoma

Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Riley left Wednesday for Tacoma Washington to stay two months with Mr. and Mrs. Geo Nicewanger.

Farmers Secure Permanent Quarters and Meeting Set

To the farmers of Van Buren Township the Farmers Federation calls a January 7 1921 membership drive aimed at placing the township as a strong force in county affairs. The letter urges full farmer participation and cooperation to gain representation on state and national bodies impacting taxes transport and policy.

Assembly meeting held in library after delay

President Armstrong secured enough members in the library room to conduct the meeting. Membership lists were distributed to chairmen and committees began filling up the roster.

Local group moves into new headquarters in R. and D. block

Chairman Frank Doyle reports the former Dr. Richardson space in the R. and D. block has been rented. A stove, wood and chairs were ordered for installation and the next meeting will be held there. Continued on Last Page.

A Chicago Tribune Paris edition image shows Red Cross workers in Paris near the Rhine raising funds for American forces in Germany. Miss Hazel Dickens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Dickens, is among them. A letter notes these workers may return by next spring and that France grieves their withdrawal.

Letter from Ted Boxell dated December 19 1920 describes Dan and Bill camping along the road near Kissimmee Florida while touring to start another restaurant for tourists. The report notes growing motor travel through Georgia and South Carolina with tents bed springs and trailers. a fire at a brick factory and other domestic details.

United Brethren Elects Sunday School Officers

The United Brethren Sunday School elected officers for the coming year. Arnal C. Alzizell was re-elected Superintendent and James Hewitt as Assistant Superintendent. James Hewitt was re-elected Treasurer and Mrs. James Hewitt as Secretary with Mildred Hewitt as Assistant Secretary. Mildred Hewitt became Organist with Marie Rumple as Assistant Organist. Cradle Roll Superintendent is Mrs. O. Snagely. Home Department Superintendent is Miss Lottie Kelley. Librarians are Franklin Rumple and Willis Hudson. Sunday School meets Sundays at 9:30 am followed by preaching or class. Prayer meeting Wednesdays and Endeavor Sundays at 6:30 pm.

Mary Ellen Lemon Leverich Dies at 65

Mary Ellen Lemon Leverich of Farrville, born August 8 1855, died December 20 1920 at age 65. She left six children five sons and a daughter, and was a devoted church member since 1888, known for hospitality and faith in heaven. Funeral details not included.
