Marion Chronicle Office Damaged by Basement Fire
Fire in Marion Indiana damaged the Marion Chronicle office in the basement with losses around 10000 dollars. The fire destroyed presses stock and building and about 5000 dollars worth of newsprint paper was ruined. Coal combustion is suspected as the cause.

Holdren Commits Death by Own Action Near Farrville
Arch Holdren a prominent farmer living about two and a half miles east of Farrville died by suicide this morning after returning from a neighborly visit. He hanged himself in his barn with a rope and shot himself in the temple after placing the rope over a rafter and then climbed into a buggy. A son witnessed the scene. Holdren leaves a widow and six children. The exact motive is unclear though reports say distress over a related matter involving a neighbor’s family.
