The Van Buren Independents beat the Jonesboro American Legion 25 to 21 at Jonesboro on Wednesday night. Van Buren led 7 to 4 at halftime as Jonesboro used four substitutes to slow the run. Van Buren will play North Grove Independents next Tuesday night.
Dr and Mrs J J Shuff welcome a three pound baby boy born Monday morning at their home or local hospital. The birth adds to the family and is noted in local news.

Douglass of Flat Rock elected general secretary, succeeding Lewis Taylor who remains to assist. E. E. Reynolds reelected state treasurer and named editor of Hoosier Farmer Organized. The executive committee stays with Brown, Douglass, and Reynolds.
Mrs J D Jones and daughters Leona and Minnie were at Marion Saturday. Jack Davis returned to Marion Friday after visiting his aunt Mrs D L Strider. Mrs Charles Poling and daughters of Warren visited Mr and Mrs Kb L Pierson early in the week. Multiple families including the Herring, Howard, Wagoner and Ducknail clans gathered for Sunday dinner. Other local mentions include recital by Dorothy Duckwall at the Marion School of Music and visits by Melinda Studebaker and families, plus various individuals at Marion on different days.
