Monroe Village Eyes Wider Church Street Project
Monroe Village Council moved toward widening Church Street with a plan funded by the village and curb and gutter costs borne by property owners. Last week two homeowners opposed the project over tree loss and curb conditions, citing safety and future traffic needs in a commercially zoned area. Mayor Reed asked for bids at the same price as the prior meeting, noting the low bidder was Bill.

Union School Gets New Gym Set and Playground Upgrades
Union Elementary School unveiled a new Bunker Hill gym set and a looping Snail ride for recess. An $800 gift from the Union Elementary School League funded the equipment installed behind the building by league fathers and staff, with a facelift to the blacktop including hopscotch, four square, basketball and kickball layouts and a new see saw.

High speed chase ends in arrests
A 15 year old drove a car at high speed through Butler and Warren Counties while four police departments pursued. The car fled from Park N S Ave lot at 2:30 a m and crashed through roadblocks before Middletown police stopped it. The driver was cited for careless operation eluding police and no license. A 17 year old passenger faced drug possession charges.
