Union Township weighs control of recreation commission
The Union Township Trustees seek a rapid ruling from Butler County Prosecutor on whether a three member recreation commission should be county or township controlled. Assistant Prosecutor Dan Fisher is asked to interpret key Revised Code sections as petitions to appoint a court appointed board could be filed regardless of the outcome.

County and Union oppose flood plain zoning plan
Butler County commissioners and Union Township trustees oppose a Corps plan to designate about 1800 acres in Port Union as a flood plain to curb Millcreek flooding. The proposal would restrict industrial and residential use north of Union Township Commerce Park, drawing strong objections from officials who warn Hamilton County would gain benefits with Butler County bearing the flood plain. A second Corps option would purchase land to create a recreation area, costing the county millions and is rejected. The study, initiated by Ohio, remains far from complete with more options possible. Union Township trustees oppose the plan for reducing industrial land and tax base, while Satterfield notes a $2756 Federal Revenue Sharing check will fund public safety. The next board meeting is August 13. Septembers session was moved to September 17.
