Union Township park plans take shape on Barrett Road

Union Township moves forward with a 123 acre Barrett Road park after a donor and the township signed a land agreement. Twenty three acres are donated and 100 acres will be bought at 2000 dollars per acre, totaling about 200000 dollars. The plan relies on a half mill recreation levy to raise about 160000 dollars over five years, with exact figures to be released by the Butler County Auditor after January 1.

Park project hinges on federal funds and local donations

The Union Township park plan expects 50 percent reimbursement from the Land and Water Conservation Fund once state approval and OKI priority are secured. With federal funds exhausted until July 1, 1974, the committee proceeds with planning, surveying, and price checks for ballfields, tennis courts, and facilities, while awaiting Ohio Department of Natural Resources grant approval.

Knock on door ends with bullet wound in Pisgah

Tracy McLaughlin Wins Third In Junior Miss Battle

Tracy McLaughlin of Lakota finished third as Miss Laura Lee Wilson won the 1974 South Butler County Junior Miss title in Garfield High School auditorium. Wilson, Talawanda senior, performed a classical piano talent and will advance to Ohio Junior Miss in January. Awards included scholarships and bonds from multiple local organizations. runner-up Julia Ann Post and other finalists also received college scholarships and savings bonds.

Monroe students tour Washington D C in educational trip
