Liberty board approves ambulance bid for life squad

Liberty Township trustees awarded a low bid of 13 739 from National Coaches Inc for a 1974 Chevrolet van type emergency vehicle to start life squad service by April 1 1974. They rejected higher bids for a Dodge van and another Chevrolet van.

Liberty Township man, deputy wounded in gunfire exchange

An apparent family quarrel led to a gunfire exchange around 6 20 p m Monday at 4633 Kyles Station Road wounding a Liberty township man and a Butler county deputy. Both were in fair condition at Mercy Hospital.

Santa to visit Liberty firehouse for kids event

Liberty residents can meet Santa Claus on December 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Maustown fire house. Bob Blackford says Santa will arrive by fire truck with toys and treats, and a closed circuit TV will show the line actions while Liberty Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary serves free coffee. In other news, deputy Mark McConnaughy was treated and released for a leg wound after a shooting incident involving Daniel L. Cook, who faces pending charges. ambulance service and a new fire pumper were discussed along with cemetery expansions and local zoning updates.
