A 39 year old Fort Bragg man Raymond Bertram Powell was killed when his car left Highway 20 east of Trillium Lane, struck a power pole and plunged into trees. His wife was uninjured.

Oscar Klee a 48 year old Ukiah tax consultant was found guilty by a 12 member jury in San Francisco of three counts of willful failure to file federal tax returns for 1966 1967 and 1968. The jury deliberated 30 minutes. He faces up to three years in prison and or a 30000 fine.

Sheriff deputies detained 46 year old Kenneth Arthur Trumble on suspicion of assault with intent to commit murder after allegedly slashing his wife Patricia I. Trumble in a kitchen knife attack during a family argument. Patricia underwent surgery for a three inch neck wound and is reported in satisfactory condition at Community Hospital.
