Bicentennial Barge draws 13000 visitors in Mechanicville

The Bicentennial Barge visit in Mechanicville drew about 13,000 on Sunday, part of a weekend stop that brought the total to over 20,000. Town officials praised the orderly crowds while two Saturday incidents occurred: a Rotterdam man charged with trying to steal the Waterford state tugboat and Officer Walace’s foot minorly injured after being run over by a car wheel as he guided traffic.

Soldier and runaways stopped in Hoosick

A car with four occupants including an AWOL Texas soldier and three Columbus Ohio juveniles was stopped on Route 7 Hoosick by Deputy David Harris. They were arrested for first degree possession of stolen property. The soldier James A. Jordan 20 from Ellensville Kansas, stationed at Ft Bliss Texas, is jailed in Rensselaer County. The two 16 year old females were sent to Albany County Jail and the other 16 year old male is jailed in Rensselaer County.

Rensselaer Police Report Multiple Arrests and Thefts

Rensselaer police arrested several individuals over the weekend and investigated thefts and burglaries. Joseph W. Kochanski of Albany faced disorderly conduct and resisting arrest charges after a Friday arrest near Washington and Herrick Streets, bail set at 150 dollars. Mary Farrell of Albany was jailed on petty larceny and released on 20 dollars bail. Edith Branchamp reported a car theft from her residence between Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Mallview Apartments loss included two televisions and a later report described forced entry and missing items from Stephen Wilkins and George Cesario residents.

Wandering Sparky the dog reunites with Ohio owner

Sparky a two year old Shetland sheep dog who wandered over fifty miles in the Adirondack wilds is back with Mary Ellen Appleman of Warrensville Heights Ohio. The reunion came Saturday after Betty George persuaded the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society to trap the dog.

Turboliner debut draws crowds along Empire Route
