Schodack Taxes to Rise in 1977 Budget Proposal

The Schodack budget for 1977 proposes a tax rate of $8.23 per thousand, with $965,762.15 in appropriations and $33,288.25 in estimated revenues. An unexpended balance of $90,275 leaves $542,228.90 to be raised by taxes, mainly added to the general fund which totals $367,464.55. Rensselaer man jailed in deadly high speed chase

James Harbeck of Rensselaer received 60 days in jail and four years ten months on probation for a Sept. 20 1975 high speed chase that killed 12 year old Marie Barner of East Greenbush. He pleaded guilty to one count of first degree reckless endangerment and was also guilty of third degree assault for an earlier Jan. 24 incident.
